What is the correct palliative care for cat cancer other than prednisolone ?
Hi, my cat is receiving palliative care for cancer. He is losing quite a bit of weight. He has been prescribed prednisolone 5mg once a day. This is to stimulate his appetite and prevent irritation to his stomach as he was vomiting regularly. Is this a high enough dose of prednisolone (5mg) and are there any other appetite stimulants or pain killers which may help him? Thanks for your advice.

- Actually, this is a pretty low dose, unless the cat is really tiny. You might want to ask your vet about using pepcid, cyproheptadine, or mirtazipam for appetite stimulation as well. Sorry about your kitty, and I hope he feels better for as long as possible.
- cyproheptidine is a appetite stimulant, If pred doesnt help I dont really know what else to suggest. when my cat was in a simialar situation the vet gave her dexamethasone instead of prednisilone however.
