Anyone else loose a cat due to feline cardiomyopathy?

I've lost 2 cats in the past year due to this disease. Is it preventable? Has anyone else experienced this? Cardiomyopathy means disease of the heart muscle. we took the cat to the vet and he gave him treatment and he still died. Even with treatment the prognosis is only 3 months to 2 years. The disease cannot be cured.

1. What? I never excperienced... um my suggest it TAKE IT TO A VET!!!
2. I have. Specifically, the walls of my cat's heart were very thick, preventing the proper volume of blood to be pumped out. Unfortunately, unless I had randomly decided to have an ultrasound done of my cat's heart, I was no way to know he had this condition until after he passed away and I requested a necropsy.
3. i dont know personally but this site may answer some questions, unfortunately i lost a cat this morning at 2am to liver failure,and exactly a month ago to the date i lost her sister,she had a tumor. im sorry to hear of your cats death.but time is a great healer. http://members.aol.com/jchinitz/hcm/
