What treats can I feed my kitty who has feline urinary tract disease? He be very bored of the vet biscuits?
He is on the Hills biscuits but I've heard its better for cats with this condition to be on a wet diet? I would love to give him some raw chicken or beef is this safe for him? The cat haven was very specific that he was to only have these biscuits for the rest of his life. I love him so I don't want to hurt him.

- Any raw chicken/beef is better for cats. I do not feed my cat a raw diet because I have a problem with handling meat. You can either make it yourself or order some through the internet or maybe at a local pet store. I wouldn't do anything without checking with a veterinarian first. The cat haven may think that those biscuits are the only choice but they may not have thought about the raw. Hope your cat does well on a raw treat if that's what you choose!
- I've heard of people making treats out of the canned food by baking it in the oven, like cookies.
- I'd limit the dry food. Mine gets fed twice a day on raw meat or wet/canned food, more if he asks for it. I also leave him dry food to snack on after his main dinner. Raw or lightly cooked is fine. Chicken, lamb, turkey & a bit of beef. But only very occasionally give fish to cats with Urinary Tract issues and don't give it during a flare-up.. Also give meat he has to work at too-- small lamb chops & chicken wings. Variety is the key with cats I think. Egg yolks are great too (not the whites unless scrambled with the whole egg). You can also finely grate a bit of carrot or zucchini into his food! Also, try adding a little bit of water to his food so he gets even more liquid in his diet. Remove the food after half an hour if he hasn't eaten it all, particularly with raw meat. Dry food I leave out for an hour longer. I do leave mine a small handful of dry food for when I'm at work, but overall I think it's best for a cat to build up an appetite & digestion rather than graze all the time. I often have lazy days so he will get the wet canned food then but if it goes on too long I notice he is hungry more often and a bit more hyper. A balance between raw, cooked, dry and canned wet is best I think. Also, if feeding lots of raw be sure to worm him at least twice a year.
