free cat vaccinations / health care?

Is there any place in south west louisiana where they give free cat vaccinations, and/or free check-ups/care?Also,what age am i suposed to wait till i give my kitten its first shots?

1. Kittens get their first shots at 6-8 weeks. Most places don't give free shots and vet checks but there are many humane societies and shelters that will at low cost. Go to www.petfinder.com and look up shelters and rescues and call them up to find who has reduced cost vaccinations. It's very important - there are several common diseases and they can kill your kitty.
2. Call your local animal shelter. Sometimes people leave large sums of money after they die just for this purpose. I was able to get 2 cats spayed here in California with one of these grants. As for shots I do not know. Some vets are willing to work out a payment plan. You can also call your local vets and as for low cost spay/neuter.
